What happened to Jack and Daxter IV?

Many people forget that Naughty Dog were not always the game developers who made some of the best realistic action adventure games for teens and adults.

Back in the old days of the PlayStation 2 - The console I grew up with - There was a highly celebrated trilogy of games these went by the name of Jak and Daxter.

The original Jak and Daxter games featured the two titular characters who would embark on numerous quests and adventures featuring engaging combat, an expertly crafted climbing/traversal system - which was greatly inspired by Naughty Dog's Crash Bandicoot games - all surrounded in a vibrant and colourful environment packed with interesting characters and collectible Precursor Orbs.

It was a magical and fantastic game series which makes me and many other Naughty Dog fans ask the question; "Where is Jak IV?". Well I'm 2009 Naughty Dog split into two teams, one team would work on the highly anticipated Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception and the other team were not sure what to do.

At some stage of Naughty Dog's brainstorm that came back to Jak and Daxter and decided to try and make a fourth game that would suit the modern world and appeal to the original audience by making it look more realistic. Bellow are some of the concept images that created.

Now I love Naughty Dog but even I have to admit they made the titular characters look freaking weird with Daxter looking like everything from Rocket Racoon to son majestic fire weasel. Naughty Dog realised this aswell so to save many childhoods and their reputation as game developera they stopped developing Jak and Daxter IV.

Furthermore since this decison Naughty Dog have never gone back to the Jak franchise. So it looks like the end for our favourite duo of adventuring big eared adventurers. However it's not all gloom and doom as the game the team that ditched Jak IV went to create was a little game that was nomintated and won hundreds of awards, this game was The Last Of Us.
